As marijuana continues to gain acceptance across the country, the alcohol beverage industry is forced to consider how our two industries will interact in the marketplace -- if for no other reason than everyone insists on comparing the two. While Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) does not have a position on the matter of legalization, in a recent letter to governors and attorneys general WSWA chief Craig Wolf urges them to consider implementing a three-tier system. "Should the legalization of marijuana proceed, state officials must be prepared to enact a regulatory structure similar to that which has proven so effective in the beverage alcohol market."
