Wine Institute Courts Pelosi on Care Act
The California Wine Institute awarded Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi its annual leadership award during a week of lobbying in Washington DC. It seems likely that their motive, at least in part, was to cement Nancy's support against HR 5034, or the CARE Act. Wine Institute chief Bobby Koch and chairman Ray Chadwick reportedly met with many members of the House and Senate last week to discuss HR 5034, among other issues. This follows weeks of lobbying by beer wholesalers, wine and spirits wholesalers, Discus and other trade groups. A request for comment from the Wine Institute was not returned by press time.
