Wine a Growing Presence in C-Stores
Convenience stores are traditionally dominated by beer but new data from SymphonyIRI shows that wine is increasingly taking up space. Dollar sales grew a whopping 21.6% to over $118 million in the 12-weeks ending January 22, while volumes gained 22.3%. Yes it is coming off a small base compared to food and drug stores, where wine sales grew 5.9% to $1.5 billion and volumes gained 3.4%. But the opportunity is there and consumers are responding.
