A distinct division is beginning to show in the U.S. wine industry as more suppliers move towards the premium end - meaning $10 a bottle and higher. Nothing has been more evident of this phenomenon than acquisitions made this year by the big three: E&J Gallo, The Wine Group and Constellation Brands. "These are the top 3 wine companies and all of them are now participating in what I call the move to the coast," said David Freed, chairman of The Silverado Group, at The Wine Industry Financial Symposium this week.
