Suppliers Expect More Normal Holidays

Suppliers say they expect a more normal holiday selling season this year, which means less promotions in 2010 than in 2009. That's because consumers are showing more willingness to trade up. An article from Dow Jones quotes Kris Sirchio, Brown-Forman cmo, saying: "The consumer climate feels a bit better than it did last year, but obviously nobody's out of the woods." B-F will launch discounts in its target markets but is "mostly focusing on making its products gift-friendly."
