Spirits Forecasted to Grow On-Premise as Wine Lags

Alcohol sales are expected to see an upswing at the on-premise in 2010, according to new research from Technomic. But that growth will mainly come from beer and spirits. Beer and spirits "should benefit the most, while wine sales will still lag due to consumers trading down to less-expensive wines, or ordering by the glass instead of by the bottle," said David Henkes, vp at Technomic.
