Spirits Continue Hot Streak, Adding $3.8 Billion in Revenue Since 2000

The spirits industry delivered another great year of growth in 2013, and whiskey remained the darling of the category, according to DISCUS's annual spirits briefing today. Supplier sales to wholesalers were up 4.4% for the year to $22.2 billion in the US, while retail sales were up over $66 billion. Spirits also delivered US volume growth of nearly 2% to 206 million cases, with a slight 1% price increase across all categories. "The bottom line is that we had another good year with everything moving up nicely, at a good steady pace," said DISCUS president Peter Cressy.
