Silver Oak Acquires Cooperage Amid Claims of Tight Barrel Supplies

While it's been a problem for a few years now, the American oak barrel shortage buzz has picked up again recently thanks to mainstream publications. Amid the discussion, popular cabernet sauvignon producer Silver Oak has announced the acquisition of 100% of its long-time partner A&K Cooperage. Silver Oak is now the first North American winery to own and operate an American oak cooperage. Silver Oak has had a 50% stake in the cooperage since 2000, but in light of current demand, wanted to secure a consistent supply of aged stave wood.
