Price Increases, Consumer Trade Up Drive On-Premise Sales
On-premise represents 25% of total adult beverages volume and slightly less than half in sales. And despite a challenging economic environment, adult beverage sales at the bar are growing in dollars and volume, according to Technomic's 2012 BarTAB report. Sales of spirits, wine and beer grew nearly 5% on-premise totaling $93.7 billion in 2011 and are predicted to have grown even more in 2012. Although wine, spirits and beer volumes declined -1.1% on-premise in 2011, it is expected they increased in 2012.
