NY Lawmakers Advance Empire Wine Bill
It looks like Albany retailer Empire Wine is beginning to pull ahead in its fight with the New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA). The bill restricting the NYSLA's power to sanction in-state liquor licensees for perceived violations of another state's laws (aka The Empire Wine Bill) passed through the NY Assembly yesterday. With just three days left in the session, the companion bill in the Senate is still pending, but the Times Union reports that it is on its third reading.
