Craft brands and distilleries are thriving all over the country as consumers increasingly seek out authentic, premium spirits. But with demanding shareholders breathing down their necks, many of the big spirits companies find it easier and more profitable to extend the brands that already have a loyal following or to buy the smaller brands once they've proved to have staying power.
