It used to be that a beverage alcohol retailer could look once a year or so at the top 200 list of spirits and create a reliably profitable shelf set. But now that craft spirits represent about 3.8 million of the nearly 211 million cases sold annually in the US, the game has changed. And not just for retailers, for distributors too, some of which are still struggling to figure out how to best handle the rapidly growing subcategory.
