How to Make it in Virginia
Continuing our coverage of control state retail strategies that began with New Hampshire [see WSD 03-28-2017], today we'll look at what it takes to make it in Virginia. Like New Hampshire, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (VABC) operates the state's liquor stores, accounting for about $900 million in sales. They are the only spirits retailers, while wine and beer can be sold by private retailers.
