How Diageo Improved Performance by Changing its Portfolio Strategy
In 2018, the makeup of Diageo's portfolio looks significantly different than it did a decade ago. In addition to a number of smaller bolt-on acquisitions or sales, Diageo has: handed off the Cuervo business (which brought in about $482 million in revenue in 2012); jettisoned its entire wine division for $552 million; bought rising star Casamigos for about $1 billion; and the latest big portfolio change came earlier this year when the company announced it was selling 19 brands to Sazerac for $550 million [see WSD 11-12-2018].
