Laying years of industry speculation to rest, Beam Inc. announced yesterday it will be acquired by dark horse contender Suntory Holdings. Most analysts are in agreement that there will not be a competing bidder, namely due to the high 20x multiple. Assuming they are correct and Suntory does successfully acquire Beam, analysts and industry experts have begun to predict how it will affect the marketplace makeup going forward.
