Ciatti Predicting Higher 2012 Grape Crop But Shortage Will Continue

Ciatti Company acknowledged in their recent California Grape Report that predicting an upcoming crop isn't easy and often inaccurate. But we still want to know what they're expecting. "The initial thoughts on this years crop is that it will be bigger than last year especially in the Coastal areas and in the Northern Interior," they said. Good weather is one factor. "But much of the reason for the larger expected crop is the market itself. Buyers need the supply and growers are leaving on extra buds to meet those desires." Furthermore, they are hearing reports that the Cabernet Sauvignon crop "looks fairly healthy throughout the state."
