Australian wines have had a tough go of it in the US in recent years. However, Casella Wines' Yellow Tail brand has transcended the Australian wine category and shown some acceleration recently, according to Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits, which represents the brand in the US (see WSD 12-13-2013 ). In fact, tomorrow Casella's one billionth bottle of Yellow Tail is set to come off the production line. Casella chief John Casella tells the Sydney Morning Herald that Yellow Tail had its best year in fiscal 2013. Volumes for the brand increased 8% worldwide, though 96% of it is exported to Americans.
