While most of us in the United States were lounging in pools or lakes yesterday celebrating the final days of summer, Gruppo Campari was busy making its next step on the global spirits stage. As you know now (and we reported yesterday), the Italian company has made another big move in North America on the heels of its 2009 Wild Turkey acquisition by agreeing to purchase an 81.4% stake in Jamaican rum maker Lascelles deMercado & Co. Owned by CL Financial Limited, its brands include Appleton Estate, Wray & Nephew and Coruba.
