Caffeinated Alcohol in the News
The issue of caffeinated alcohol was reopened over the weekend and largely covered by the mainstream press. That's because New York Senator Charles Schumer sent a letter to the FTC on Sunday urging them to investigate the marketing of caffeinated flavored malt beverages. He also asked the FDA to speed up its investigation of such products, which they've been doing since November 2009. Yes, he's the same guy we reported on last week that held a press conference aimed at gathering support for a bill that would pump $60 million into research for installing alcohol detection devices in cars within 5-10 years.
