The lower end of the wine category (under $9) had another tough year in 2017, save for a slight improvement in the $3 to $6 segment. But even that small ray of hope for the value wine category is not actually reflective of bottle wine sales. The growth is due to the uptick in boxed wine sales above $14, which typically get converted to 750 ml bottles for equalizing purposes.
