Big Distillers Say Scotch Production Levels at Full Throttle Despite Slowdown

The Scotch whisky industry has historically been subject to a production cycle of extreme oversupply and shortage because of the long maturation process of the liquid. Beginning in 2009 (and briefly pausing for the recession) demand for Scotch skyrocketed and as a result, production levels have followed suit as suppliers rush to rebuild inventories of longer aged whisky.
