Bacardi’s Road to Becoming “Envy of the Industry”

Over the weekend, news broke that Bacardi has decided to break up its distribution alliance with Brown-Forman and Remy Cointreau to go it alone and align with the new Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits network [see WSD 01-09-2016]. Bacardi's US distribution alliance with Brown-Forman has been in place since 2002, but B-F says it "was not involved in the process Bacardi embarked upon in regard to its route-to-market decisions and we were made aware of their decisions after Bacardi informed distributors," per a statement from B-F.
