Bacardi Seeks Transparency from Fed in Havana Club Decision

You may recall, Bacardi insisted it would continue to pursue all necessary actions to defend its ownership of the Havana Club name after the USPTO renewed Cubaexport/Pernod Ricard's registration for the trademark last month [see WSD 01-15-2016]. Making good on their word, the Bermuda-based drinks group has now filed a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) for all documents, communications and files related to the decision from the USPTO, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), US Department of State, Executive Office of the President of the United States (POTUS), the National Security Council (NSC), US Department of Treasury and/or any third parties relating to the Havana Club rum trademark registration action.
