Are High-Value, Craft Brand Acquisitions Worth the Risk?
While acquisitions are obviously not a new proposition for driving growth, we've seen a shift in strategy as market leaders within all drink categories seek to buy smaller and smaller companies for seemingly higher and higher valuations. The upward pricing pressure for hot craft brands has reached such a fever pitch that we've seen a couple of $1 billion purchases in the last 18 months, which has inevitably led to conversations about whether these companies are worth it.
