Almost $16M Spent on Privatization Campaigns

The group calling for privatization in Washington, Yes on 1183, has raised over $8 million since introducing their proposal in May. The bulk of that money has come from Costco, while Safeway, Trader Joe's, the Northwest Grocery Association and the Washington Restaurant Association have also thrown in cash. The group opposing privatization has so far raised a little over $7.4 million. The WSWA alone has brought in over $5.7 million, while the National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Washington Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association (WBWWA) each donated $500,000.
