We normally try to avoid interrupting your weekends, dear readers, but the Wall Street Journal has just reported that Diageo and the Beckmanns, who own Proximo Spirits and Jose Cuervo, are in advanced talks to swap brands. An anonymous source close to the deal claims Diageo would acquire full control of the Don Julio tequila brand and in turn the Beckmanns would receive Bushmills Irish whiskey and a cash payment.
