$10+ Table Wines Account for Half of Winery Revenues in 2013
California wine shipments within the US grew 3% to 215 million cases last year and raked in $23.1 billion, according to a report from the Wine Institute. Due to the short vintages in 2010 and 2011 California wineries largely relied on table wines priced $10 and above to drive growth in 2013, says wine industry consultant Jon Fredrikson of Gomberg, Fredrikson & Associates. As a result, wines in these price segments accounted for half of winery revenues and grew by 9% in volumes in 2013.
