Bacardi Names New Chief

FILED MARCH 6, 2017

Mahesh Madhavan, Bacardi's regional president for Asia, Middle East and Africa, will be stepping up to the plate as ceo, taking over for current ceo Mike Dolan on April 1, 2018. In the interim, Mike will continue on in his role and Mahesh will transition to a new role as regional president of Europe in 2017.

After a three-year succession planning process, Bacardi leadership landed on Mahesh, a Bacardi veteran who has spent the last 20 years in roles such as managing director for India, Thailand and the Philippines, as well as South Asia. Bacardi chairman of the Board Facundo Bacardi says he has "the ideal mix of leadership skills, commercial operational and financial expertise, and global brands experience," for the job.

"We have many exciting opportunities ahead of us, and we are in the ideal position to capitalize on global spirits trends with iconic brands in the premium and ultra-premium segments," adds Mahesh.

Meanwhile, Mike Dolan, who has been with Bacardi since 2009, and in the chief role since 2014, will remain on the board through 2019, at which point he'll retire.
